Phlebotomy Technician

The Phlebotomy Technician Program at Historic Carver Technical Education Center (HCTEC) prepares students with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to safely and effectively collect blood and other specimens for laboratory testing. Students learn essential procedures in venipuncture, capillary puncture, infection control, and specimen handling while developing professional communication and workplace ethics vital to success in healthcare settings.
This program emphasizes both classroom instruction and supervised clinical practice, ensuring students gain real-world experience in a healthcare environment. Graduates are prepared for employment in:
- Hospitals
- Diagnostic laboratories
- Physician offices
- Blood donor centers and;
- Other medical facilities.
Required Program Courses & Credentials Acquired:
- Basic Health Care Worker HSC0003 - 90 Hours
- Phlebotomy Technician - MEA0520
- Students earn their Phlebotomy Certificate of Completion
- Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the national certification exam and earn the credential of National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT).
