Culinary Arts
The Culinary Arts & Food Preparation Program at Historic Carver Technical Education Center (HCTEC) provides students with hands-on experience in the fundamentals of cooking, kitchen operations, and food safety. This program is designed to introduce students to the core skills needed to work in entry-level culinary and food service positions while developing the professionalism, teamwork, and time management skills essential in the hospitality industry.
Students learn through practical, lab-based instruction and real-world experiences — from mastering knife skills and food preparation techniques to understanding portion control, nutrition, and menu planning. The program also emphasizes safe food handling, sanitation standards, and customer service, preparing students to meet industry expectations.
Program Highlights:
- Practical training in food preparation, cooking methods, and plating techniques

- Emphasis on food safety and sanitation aligned with ServSafe® standards
- Opportunities to participate in community-based culinary events and partnerships, such as with the Palm Beach County Food Bank
